See differences in medical test results across labs?
Of late, in every major area of the neighbour hood, we see labs coming up. Medical labs are announcing special packages and discounts for the medical tests. Package rates are for screening Diabetes, Heart and and every vital organ in the body. Expensive equipment to measure every breadth and every beat in your body.
Now, labs are being tuned to aid in nutrition and Sports as well. Better performance of the athlete. Well, all these are good things to have. The question is are they regulated and monitored.
“Google” and internet sites, seem to provide a lot of open information that was only available to medical practitioners. The open knowledge has now raised questions about the necessity of some of the medical tests. Are we also taking the right medical tests as well?
Diabetic Patients – medical tests.
The most number of tests that are taken by Diabetic or Pre-diabetic patients are Fasting Glucose, Post Prandial Glucose, Glycolated HbA1C, urine routines. HbA1C tests can be measured in a number of ways. The most recommended way is HPLC method of calculation. Earlier, you had the assayer method as well. Added to it, the associations across the world have also changed the range in percentage on what qualifies as pre-diabetic to diabetic levels. One of the tests that are recommended by the medical practitioner is to measure your “Fasting” insulin or Serum Insulin levels. The accuracy of the lab results even though automated also depends on the Lab technician experience and also the quality of the chemicals used for the process. The instruments need to be calibrated from time to time for ensuring accuracy of the readings.
The Cholesterol test.
The Lipid profile that are tested for elevated cholesterol readings. Based on standard tests, any reading that shows a slight variation gets a prescription of type of drugs called Statins. The values of the parameters as HDL, LDL, VLDL and triglycerides are statistically calculated. Except a few countries, LDL-c is the statistical calculation of LDL levels. Statins are said to deplete the COQ10 enzyme that prevents absorption of glucose into the muscle tissue.
Summary, medical tests are becoming expensive and turning into a corporate structure of being revenue driven. Unless the labs are regulated and stricter controls of calibration done, patients stand a chance of being treated incorrectly.
My measure for a person being healthy is being “Energetic”. If you treat a problem, treat it at a cell level.
